Irwin Ingwer, MD, FACP, graduated Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1970.  He completed an internal medical residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, New Hyde Park, New York, and then went on to a two year fellowship in infectious diseases at Indiana Medical Center, Indianapolis, Indiana, followed by a one year fellowship in infectious disease at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York City. He joined Island Internists in 1978 and became a partner in Island Medical Group in 1996 with the merger of Island Internists and Mid-Island Internal Medicine Consultants.
